CREATING SHARED VALUE
Creating shared value is the new frontier for business
The term “creating shared value” was coined by Harvard’s Professor Michael Porter and Mark Kramer (pictured) to describe companies that are contributing to positive societal outcomes through core and profitable business. It’s a frontier topic for executive education programs.
My book, Connecting Profit With Purpose, unpacks the what, why and how of shared value, including:
- The tension between making profits and societal challenges
- Defining what shared value is (and isn’t)
- Examples of the principles in action
- A process for finding your own opportunities
Shard value is the perfect framework for (re)building trust in a sustainable and high-performing way, and I unpack the practical steps or the “how-to” piece that is so often missing.
